Why Nutritional Therapy?

We are in the midst of a national health crisis.

Despite incredible technological advances, medical science has not been able to deter the ever increasing rates of chronic illness that plagues modern society. Americans spend almost one trillion dollars a year for medical services. We’ve been almost hypnotized as a country into thinking the medical and pharmaceutical industries can solve all our health problems and that we are making great strides in combating today’s health issues.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Despite the continuous onslaught of more and more drugs and more and more technological advances in diagnostic equipment we are not only not any healthier for it, we are markedly sicker.

In America today, 1 in 3 dies of cancer and 3 out of 4 suffers some form of cardiovascular disease. The average American consumes 170 pounds of refined sugar per year. Diabetes has risen from 1.8 million cases in 1958 to 24 million in 2008. Dozens of other degenerative diseases and chronic conditions strike our citizens with increasing frequency. Even our children are more at risk. ADD, autism and learning disabilities were rare only a generation ago.

Modern methods of food production have radically altered the chemistry of our soil, our water and air, our animals and thus our food and thus ourselves. Nutritional Therapy believes there is a direct link between industrialized systems of agriculture and the myriad health problems plaguing modern society.

Nutritional Therapy is part of a growing revolution in the fields of diet and nutrition that is desperately needed today in America. It is a preventive, gentle, and natural form of health care. It educates and empowers you to take control of your health. It advocates practical and sane dietary advice, with individualized attention. And most importantly, Nutritional Therapy advocates a return to traditional and sustainable forms of agriculture. These are essential to our health and our planet’s health.

To quote Thomas Edison, “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his or her patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease”.
