Nutrition Consultations

Because change takes time, I work in 3 and 6 month packages. Which package is right for you depends on many factors. A long term chronic condition may require more time and patience to improve than say, wanting to lose ten pounds. We’ll figure that out together.

Each package is tailored to each individual because we are all different. I don’t have a one-size fits all approach. Some people need to go slow and make changes in increments and some are ready to clean out the kitchen tomorrow and change everything. It doesn’t matter. Making dietary changes is not a race and they need to be practical within our modern day, busy lives. I meet each person where they’re at in their life and help guide them through their health issues and concerns.

For the most part I work with people who want to lose weight, address their digestive issues and address the many problems associated with these things, namely chronic fatigue, sugar cravings and mental health imbalances to name a few.

I am also a certified GAPS practitioner. GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome and it is a nutrition program that can help those with more serious, long term chronic digestive and mental health problems.

But regardless of your where you’re at, whether it be the need for a little weight loss or a lot, whether it be a minor digestive complaint or a decades-long condition, I find that dietary changes help almost everyone.

To explain a little more how I work with people, there are five core concepts that guide me in my consultations:

1. Bio-individuality

We are all different. No one diet fits everyone. Age, genetics, gender, the climate we live in, etc. is different for everyone and dictates how certain foods affect us. Regardless, there are certain foods that affect everyone negatively, namely processed, industrialized food. Which leads me to my second core belief…

2. Real Food

I believe in the power of REAL FOOD to change how your body works. I’ve seen it in myself and I’ve seen it in countless others. I am an advocate for real food. Real food is unprocessed, whole, properly prepared, sustainably grown and nutrient dense.

3. Lifestyle

As logical as that sounds, it can be challenging to bring real food into our lives for many reasons. In the midst of our busy lives, real food is often pushed aside for cheap, quick, processed food. My job is to help you navigate through these challenges and show you how easy it can be to bring real food into your life on an everyday basis.

4. Digestion

As a Nutritional Therapist I use a unique set of tools to help assess underlying dysfunction in the body. While there are many foundations of health I assess from blood sugar to mineral imbalances, digestive imbalances are at the top of that list.

Our digestive system is like the roots of a tree. The roots must be healthy for the tree to thrive. Similarly, the digestive system must be functioning well for the human body to thrive. We can be eating a healthy diet but if we’re not breaking down and absorbing the nutrients in our food properly, we can still be unhealthy.

When digestive health starts to correct and improve, so many other connected health issues start to improve as well, including our mental health.

5. Education

As a Nutritional Therapist, education is a huge part of what I do. There is so much confusion and controversy about the right diet today. Who to believe? When you work with me, it’s my job to make you feel confident in what we’re doing together. I provide education in the form of not only my own knowledge but the shared knowledge in the many books, recipes, articles, handouts and websites that I use to help you along the way.

We’ll discuss all these things in more detail in my 50 minute FREE initial consult. At the end of this consult, if we choose to work together, we’ll decide on a package that works for you. I emphasize the word ‘choose’ because ultimately I want you to feel comfortable working with me. That is why I set up the free consult. It’s a chance for us to get together, discuss what you’d like to accomplish and to see if I can help you in that process. Again, this initial consult is completely free.
