July Giveaway: Real Food Fermentation

By Craig Fear

It’s time for another monthly giveaway!

This month I tried to think of a gift that could help me celebrate my soon-to-be-released ebook, The 30 Day Heartburn Solution.

No, it’s not a bottle of Tums or a box of OTC Prilosec.

It’s something even more potent than that.

I’m giving away a copy of Real Food Fermentation by Alex Lewin!

I met Alex at last year’s Weston Price conference in San Jose. Super nice guy. He’s also a fellow real food advocate which makes him an even better guy.

So some of you might be wondering how a book about fermentation could be more potent than antacids and acid-blockers (which admittedly work quickly and effectively).

It’s very simple.

It’s because fermented foods are an important part of stopping heartburn and establishing good long-term digestive health.

Antacids like Tums and Rolaids and acid-blockers like Prilosec, Zantac and Nexium stop the symptoms of heartburn but not the cause. They can make you dependent upon them AND often set up a whole cascade of other problems including nutrient deficiencies, bone loss and other digestive issues.

Fermented foods are one of the five real food pillars I discuss in my book. But Alex’s book is much more extensive and specific to home fermentation. It’s also chock full of beautiful photos and simple instructions for:

What I personally love about this book is the simplicity. It’s great for beginners but can also add to the repertoire of those more experienced with home fermentation. Oh and the pictures really are phenomenal. And practical! If you’re a visual learner the step-by-step photos will be a tremendous help.

The value of the book is $17.64 but you can enter to win it for free (including shipping) right here:

You are probably already aware of this and just in case you aren’t, the widget on this webpage just hangs in Firefox and doesn’t appear at all in Internet Explorer.

I’m using Firefox and the widget worked fine the first day of the giveaway, and seems to be working fine now…

  2. Julie Kling says:

I also can’t access the widget via Internet Explorer

  3. Craig Fear says:

Gary and Julie, that’s because IE is terrible. Try using Google Chrome.

  4. Cherie says:

I would love to win this book! Thanks for the opportunity!

I just did my first batch of fermented foods this morning. While I am not really sure that I know what I am doing, I look forward to learning as much as I can about fermenting fresh foods. I was diagnosed with a heart valve that didn’t return to rest almost 40 years ago. Well, it has started to act up recently and I remember that my mother had the same problem. I also remember the stink of her ‘pickled herring’ that she took for her ‘bad valve’. Until recently I never made the connection of pickled herring to ‘fermented’. Now that I know she was really just getting a dose of fermented fish, I am ready to get on board! This book may make all the difference for my health, and I truly hope that I win it, because I sure can’t afford to buy it right now. No health insurance, and trying to get my health back the right way - with Real Whole foods.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the book and even more for your site. I am so glad I found it! I look forward to learning under your guidance.
