Nobody I know takes a course in nutrition to be good at business. NO ONE.
But the fact remains, being a good business person is as important to a thriving nutrition practice as being a good practitioner. I liken it to to the two wings of an airplane. One wing represents you expertise as a practitioner and the other wing represents getting clients in the door!
Your practice will never get off the ground without the two wings in place. Keep Reading…

Last week I was on Cape Cod visiting my college friends. They have a beautiful summer house in North Truro that overlooks Provincetown harbor.
My favorite thing about visiting (besides the seafood and beaches) is to sit on their deck and sip their fantabulous homemade lattes. Keep Reading…

The year was 2000. I was in Thailand. I’d spent the previous two weeks in Bangkok and Chang Mai and I wanted to escape the tourists, the crazy traffic and the smog. So I made my way to Chang Rai, a small city way up north, where I rented a moped and embarked upon a four-day trip exploring the beautiful mountains and countryside of northern Thailand. Last fall I was lucky enough to join The Village Green Network (VGN). Have you heard of VGN?
If you haven’t yet, I’m confident you will very soon!
VGN is a community of real food bloggers and it is fast becoming the premiere online resource for everything real food-related.
We have a wide array of talents and expertise but what unites us all is a belief and passion in real food that comes from small-scale, organic, sustainable farms. Keep Reading…

I don’t know about you but I LOVE health and wellness conferences. And I especially love the conferences that are all about REAL food. I always learn so much. But let’s face it. They’re not cheap! The cost of airfare, hotel and food sure adds up quick.
That’s why I’m excited to share with you a great online summit that’s starting on March 24th. And it’s FREE. Oh and as I said, it’s online too. No airfare. No exorbitant hotel fees. And no crappy overpriced hotel food either. Keep Reading…

Here we go. The final stretch run for the most important and historic vote of our time. No, I’m not talking about the presidential election.
I’m talking about Proposition 37, a citizen’s initiative on the ballot of California to mandate labeling of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
GMOs foods have never been proven safe. And yet they’ve unknowingly been in our food supply since the early 1990s. We’ve all been eating them without knowing it. What’s worse is that they’re almost impossible to avoid. They’re in the majority of supermarket foods and they’re in the oils that virtually every restaurant uses. Keep Reading…

Did you know that when you go out to eat you’re probably eating genetically-modified organisms (GMOs)?
They’re in the oils that restaurants use.
Namely, corn, cottonseed, canola and soybean oils. The majority of these are genetically-modified.
They’re probably also in the foods in your house. Go to your cupboards and fridge right now. You’ll see them in there. They’re also hidden in things like soy lecithin, hydrolyzed soy protein, soy flour, soy milk, high fructose corn syrup, cornstarch, corn meal, dextrose, glucose, maltodextrin and so many more of those bizarre ingredients you see in packaged foods. Keep Reading…

When I meet with clients and recommend a grain-free diet, I have to admit, I cringe a bit inside. I can see the look on people’s faces as they start to mentally compute all the things they’ll no longer be able to eat.
Good-bye breakfast cereals. Good-bye muffins, pastries, donuts, pizza, sandwiches, pasta, etc etc.
Yikes! I know it can be a little intimidating.
But here’s the good news: it’s not as hard as you think! Keep Reading…

Welcome back to part III in a continuing series on autoimmune diseases.
In part I gave a brief overview of autoimmune diseases with a focus on how I helped my client, Amy, change her diet. In part II we heard from Amy herself as she discussed the dramatic improvements it made in her in her life-long battle with a rare autoimmune condition.
Today, I thought I’d wrap things up by sharing an inspirational video by a doctor who’s reversed her multiple sclerosis through similar dietary changes. If you know someone with MS, please forward this to them. It could change their life!
